I'm excited to announce the latest addition to our insurance portfolio: Pet Health Insurance.
BuffaloQuotes.com is now providing ASPCA Pet Health Insurance. For those familiar with the coverage, you can head right over to: BuffaloQuotes.com/pets. From there you can also meet some of our local pet-oriented friends and also meet our dogs, Bentley and Zoey.
Here at BuffaloQuotes.com, our pets are our family. Zoey and Bentley get to enjoy my furniture like people (see above), they get birthday cakes and presents like people, why shouldn't they get health protection like people? Even I will admit that there are outrageous insurance policies and warranties that most of us will never use. However, ask any pet owner, and I will bet there was a time or two they wish they had pet insurance. Here's my story:
I bought Bentley(Dachshund-Jack Russell mix) when I first moved out on my own. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I bought him from a family in Depew, who's dog had puppies on accident. He didn't even come with a collar around his neck. No shots, no food, nothing. Thankfully, I was pointed in the direction of an incredible Vet (Georgetown Animal Clinic in Williamsville), and they took care of Bentley's puppy-needs and informed me through the process. I ended up purchasing a Puppy wellness plan through them to cover some things, but I remember specifically opting out of the Pet Health Insurance they recommended. My logic: People get sick, dogs don't.
Well, when Bentley was about 6 months old (I got him right at 8 weeks) didn't you know that he got sick. Never having a dog before, I just thought he was acting funny. He was hardly eating or drinking, but I didn't notice until he got a little worse. The morning after he started showing symptoms, Bentley wouldn't move out of bed. He was extremely lethargic. I literally picked him up to take him outside. The second I set him down, his legs gave out and he plopped down. I rushed him to the Vet, and they performed test after test. Thankfully, he got ill and was just extremely dehydrated. This was determined after keeping him on an IV all night and running blood tests. Bad news: I never had Pet Health Insurance. The costs for his medical treatment came completely out-of-pocket.
I encourage all pet owners to at least look into Pet Health Insurance. It's very affordable, and can prove to be well worth it if you are ever in a situation like I was. Think of how many stories you've heard about bad hips/back on a dog or Fido getting into something he shouldn't have.
